What makes this product special:
A captain must have foresight and patience if he wants to hold his own on stormy seas. We believe that both are also important in the coffee business. After all, Tropical Mountains wants to create an island where only organic and fair-trade coffee in sustainable packaging has a right to exist.
With CAPITANO, you are heading for a sweet and full-bodied Arabica-Robusta blend that rewards you with aromas of grapefruit, dark chocolate, and roasted nuts — with slight acidity and a long-lasting, pleasant finish. This makes the CAPITANO espresso perfect to enjoy neat, as a ristretto, or as the base for a cappuccino.
Tropical Mountains CAPITANO Espresso Coffee Capsules: Community Coffee
We use organic Arabica green coffees from Peru and Colombia for our CAPITANO espresso. The organic Robusta comes from a partner cooperative in Tanzania. In this way, we support coffee farmers from our network or community by purchasing their gourmet organic coffee directly and without intermediaries. This ensures that the farmers we work with enjoy a good and fair income.
Compostable Capsule Alternatives for the Nespresso®* System
The coffee capsules we use conserve natural resources. Both the capsules and their packaging are made entirely from natural materials. Since aluminium is deliberately avoided, they are fully biodegradable. Learn more about how to dispose of or compost the packaging responsibly.
Zero Waste
We consistently pursue the idea of zero waste (no waste). The 21-count capsule containers can be refilled repeatedly. For this purpose, we offer the refill bag available in two different sizes. The used bags can be reused in many ways or collected and returned to us for reuse.**

The Story of Tropical Mountains
Tropical Mountains began in 2012 as a small coffee farm deep in the Peruvian highlands, 12 hours by car from Lima. Peru-born Gisella Iriarte and Swiss entrepreneur Thomas Schwegler shared a vision: coffee grown with care, complete transparency from origin to cup, and a company built on respect and responsibility.
Over time, we have expanded our range to include exceptional gourmet coffees from trusted partners around the world. And while Tropical Mountains continues to grow, we remain true to our roots: building long-term relationships throughout the entire supply chain and dedicating ourselves to producing outstanding coffee – with curiosity, care, and a commitment to sustainability.
Today, we are proud to be a certified B Corporation – part of a global movement that uses business as a force for good. We support local communities, improve education in coffee-growing regions, and fund meaningful, sustainable projects.
Respect Makes Coffee Taste Better
We show respect for people, coffee plants, and the planet. That’s why we offset all CO₂ emissions across our supply chain and continuously work to reduce our ecological footprint. Our family is growing – but our values remain the same.
