What makes this product special:

"Strong as an oak", it says. And "robustus" means "made of hardwood/oak". Robusta coffee offers coffee connoisseurs a lot - without compromise. Are you ready for a powerful wave of nutty, earthy and bitter coffee notes? Ready for a tart and strong taste with a long and intense finish? Robusta beans defy many of life's adversities - like high heat or humidity. The question is: Can you also take on Robusta? If so, it will be a friendship for life. A magnificent and stable crema in the espresso is guaranteed.

Tropical Mountains ROBUSTO: Community Coffee in a non individually packed E.S.E. Pod

For the ROBUSTOcoffee we use Canephora (Robusta) green coffee from Tanzania. The Arabica green coffee comes from Peru. In this way, we support coffee farmers from our network or community by purchasing their gourmet organic coffee for the ROBUSTO directly and without intermediate trade. The coffee farmers we work with thus have a good and fair living.

In the resealable bag with 40 E.S.E. pods, all pods are not packed individually. This saves packaging waste and we continue to follow our principle of "Zero Waste".

The history of Tropical Mountains

The development of Tropical Mountains begins in 2012 as a small farm 12 hours drive away from Lima, Peru. Peruvian Gisella Iriarte and Swiss Thomas Schwegler dream of organic and fair trade coffee - traceable from the bean in the tropical highlands to the fragrant cup at home.

Meanwhile, gourmet coffees from around the world have been added to our range, complementing the coffees from our family farm. They expand our ability to offer fair trade and certified organic coffees.

Respect makes the taste

And as Tropical Mountains evolves, we are relying on our roots: organic farming, direct fair trade and sustainable packaging. We are a member of the World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO), support local schools and fund charitable projects. Because we believe that respect is what makes coffee taste excellent. Respect for our employees, for the coffee plant and for nature as a whole. That's why we also offset the CO2 emissions from our value chain. Our family grows - our values remain.

The Story of Tropical Mountains

Tropical Mountains began in 2012 as a small coffee farm deep in the Peruvian highlands, 12 hours by car from Lima. Peru-born Gisella Iriarte and Swiss entrepreneur Thomas Schwegler shared a vision: coffee grown with care, complete transparency from origin to cup, and a company built on respect and responsibility.

Over time, we have expanded our range to include exceptional gourmet coffees from trusted partners around the world. And while Tropical Mountains continues to grow, we remain true to our roots: building long-term relationships throughout the entire supply chain and dedicating ourselves to producing outstanding coffee – with curiosity, care, and a commitment to sustainability.

Today, we are proud to be a certified B Corporation – part of a global movement that uses business as a force for good. We support local communities, improve education in coffee-growing regions, and fund meaningful, sustainable projects.

Respect Makes Coffee Taste Better

We show respect for people, coffee plants, and the planet. That’s why we offset all CO₂ emissions across our supply chain and continuously work to reduce our ecological footprint. Our family is growing – but our values remain the same.
